More Than the Race: Why Yellowspark Studio Understands Motocross
There is a difference between showing up to a motocross track with a camera and understanding what is happening around you.
You can capture the gate drop. You can photograph the biggest jump. You can make a reel with fast cuts, loud music, and roost flying across the screen.
Those things are important.
But they are not the whole story.
At Yellowspark Studio, our connection to motocross goes much deeper than content creation. Moto has been part of our lives, our families, and our community for generations. That history influences the way we approach every race, rider, promoter, sponsor, and powersports brand we work with.
Because when we arrive at the track, we are not stepping into an unfamiliar industry.
We are coming home.
Our Connection to Motocross Started Long Before Yellowspark
For Yellowspark Studio Co-Founder and Marketing Director Perry Young, motocross has always been part of the family.
His grandfather, Terry Frydendall, owned and operated Valley Dirt Riders in Berthoud, Colorado, a motocross facility that became part of Northern Colorado's racing community. Perry grew up around the track, surrounded by racers, families, motorcycles, and the countless people it takes to make racing happen.
His family raced. Perry raced. Weekends were spent at the motocross track.
Those experiences created an understanding of the sport that cannot be learned simply by studying motocross marketing from the outside.
• We understand why a kid clearing a jump for the first time matters.
• We understand why a parent standing along the fence might be just as important to photograph as the rider on the other side of it.
• We understand the hours spent working on bikes, driving to races, preparing gates, maintaining tracks, finding sponsors, packing trailers, and making sure everything is ready before anyone ever sees the starting gate.
We understand that motocross is not just a sport.
For many people, it is family.
The Best Moto Content Is About More Than Riding
A great motocross photographer knows where the action happens.
A great storyteller knows where to look when the bikes are not moving.
Sometimes the photograph that matters most is not the biggest whip of the weekend. It is a father talking to his daughter before her moto. A mechanic making one final adjustment at the truck. Friends laughing between races. A nervous rider waiting at staging. A promoter watching months of work finally come together.
Those are the details people remember.
They are also the details that make motorsports content feel authentic.
When Yellowspark covers an event, we want the finished work to show what it felt like to be there, not simply prove that racing happened.
That means understanding when to look toward the track and when to turn the camera around.
Built for Riders, Families, Promoters, Sponsors, and Brands
Different people need different things from motorsports media.
• A rider may need professional race photography, video edits, and social content that helps build a recognizable personal brand.
• A family may simply want incredible photographs documenting a season they will remember for the rest of their lives.
• A sponsor needs content that demonstrates its involvement in the sport and gives it something valuable to share with its own audience.
• A promoter needs more than race-day photography. They need people to know the race exists in the first place. That means event promotion, graphics, video, social media, websites, advertising, sponsor content, and communication before and after the gate drops.
• A powersports company needs creative work that feels like it actually belongs in the industry.
Yellowspark is uniquely equipped for that because we are not only photographers or videographers.
We are a creative and marketing studio.
Our team brings together photography, videography, graphic design, branding, web development, social media, digital marketing, advertising, and strategy. That allows us to think beyond individual deliverables and understand how everything works together.
We can capture the story and help you figure out what to do with it.
Moto Marketing Should Be Made for Moto People
Motorsports audiences can tell when something is fake.
They know when terminology is wrong. They know when a brand is trying too hard. They know when someone does not understand racing culture.
More importantly, they know when someone genuinely cares.
That matters to us.
Our goal is not to take the personality out of motocross and turn it into polished corporate marketing. Our job is to understand what makes a rider, event, organization, or brand special and build professional creative work around it.
• Sometimes that should be polished.
• Sometimes it should be emotional.
• Sometimes it should be loud, dirty, funny, chaotic, or completely focused on racing.
The creative should fit the people it represents.
Our Motorsports Experience Keeps Growing
Yellowspark Studio has already had opportunities to create media within the Colorado motocross community, including professional motocross coverage at Thunder Valley and work surrounding adaptive motocross.
Every event reinforces something we already knew: The motorcycles bring everyone together, but the people are what make moto worth documenting.
That is why we want to continue working with riders, race families, tracks, promoters, nonprofits, teams, sponsors, dealerships, manufacturers, and other organizations throughout the motocross and powersports industries.
We want to help tell the stories that already exist within this community.
Beyond Motocross
That same philosophy extends beyond the starting gate.
Automotive, motorcycle, off-road, and powersports companies deserve creative partners who understand why people become emotionally attached to machines.
To someone outside these communities, a motorcycle might simply be a product.
To its owner, it might represent their childhood, their family, their friends, their weekends, their competitive identity, or decades of memories.
Understanding that difference changes the work.
Our combination of creative talent, marketing experience, and genuine connection to motorsports allows us to create content that respects both the machine and the people surrounding it.
We Care About What We Capture
• There are plenty of talented people who can operate a camera.
• There are plenty of agencies that can run an advertising campaign.
• There are plenty of designers who can make something look good.
Yellowspark Studio brings those disciplines together with something that is much harder to teach: we genuinely care about this community.
When we photograph your rider, promote your race, tell your organization's story, build your brand, or create content for your company, we understand that what we are working on matters to somebody.
• Maybe it matters to thousands of spectators.
• Maybe it matters to a sponsor.
• Maybe it matters to one family.
That is enough for us to care about getting it right.
Because years from now, race results might be buried in an archive and social posts might be forgotten.
But somebody will still have that photograph.
Somebody will still remember that weekend.
And somebody will still tell the story.
That is what we want Yellowspark Studio to capture.

Find answers about our creative process and how we approach projects
Listening is where real understanding begins. When we truly hear what a client needs, we can create work that actually solves their problem instead of just looking good.
We ask questions in discovery, we pay attention to feedback during development, and we stay curious about what our work actually accomplishes. Listening isn't just at the start—it's throughout the entire process.
That's where listening gets interesting. We ask better questions to help them discover what they actually need. Sometimes the best ideas come from helping clients articulate what they've been feeling all along.
Listening upfront saves time later. When we truly understand the vision, we make fewer wrong turns and need fewer revision rounds. The investment in listening pays off in efficiency and better results.
Yes. Whether it's a small social media campaign or a complete brand overhaul, listening is the foundation. The scale changes, but the principle stays the same.
